Supporting the national Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters reflects Equiti’s commitment to removing barriers to care and advancing language equity for diverse communities.
Equiti is proud to support the Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters (CCHI) with an unrestricted financial donation that will help drive CCHI’s mission to raise the bar for healthcare interpretation in the United States.
CCHI, a national nonprofit organization, develops and administers national, vendor-neutral certification programs for healthcare interpreters in the U.S., helping promote quality interpreting in any healthcare setting and modality. Their certifications align with Equiti’s values of elevating the role of interpreters as essential members of the care team and ensuring high-quality communication across languages and clinical settings.
Equiti, the parent company of Voyce and Martti, provides integrated, tech-enabled language access services to health systems and hospitals nationwide, with a mission to enable equitable care for every patient, no matter what language they use. This contribution to CCHI reflects Equiti’s dual commitment to both the technical excellence and community-centered values that define effective language access in healthcare.
“At Equiti, we believe language should never be a barrier to health. Our mission is rooted in the belief that equity begins with communication — and that belief is advanced every day by skilled healthcare interpreters,” said Maureen Huber, Chief Executive Officer at Equiti.
“By supporting CCHI, we’re investing in one of the infrastructures that ensures interpreters understand professional standards and have access to recognition and training that reflect the critical role they play in delivering safe, high-quality care.”
Established in 2009, CCHI brings together medical interpreters, representatives from interpreting associations, language companies, community-based organizations, educational institutions, healthcare providers, and advocates for individuals with limited English proficiency (LEP). CCHI’s credential programs validate interpreters’ knowledge and skills, contributing to better care experiences and outcomes for patients who speak languages other than English.
"Support from organizations like Equiti helps us sustain performance-based certification for interpreters of all languages, raising the bar on standards and quality in healthcare interpreting. This contribution supports our mission and reinforces our commitment to a profession that remains vital to equitable patient-centered healthcare in an evolving landscape," said Natalya Mytareva, Executive Director of CCHI.
